Sparkling Lights: An Outdoor Magical Wonderland
The third season of Sparkling Lights at The Breakers will be the biggest yet! This year, the fun extends around the entire property for the first time. You’ll stroll along a half-mile-long path glittering with hundreds of thousands of holiday lights while friendly gnomes point the way and music fills the winter air. Walk through the dazzling tunnels of light! See illuminated snowmen, reindeer and many more sparkling surprises. Stop by the Children’s Cottage and get a family photo at the Van”deer”bilt selfie station! The mansion facade will be illuminated and adorned with lights in ever-changing colors.
Warm Up, Snack and Sip
Five new fire pits will light the way and help visitors stay warm and festive. The back terrace will have warming stations and adult beverages. Enjoy holiday sweets and treats, and purchase a s’mores kit to cook over the fire pit! The Breakers Welcome Center also will have refreshments, including snacks and non-alcoholic beverages, and a fire pit to make s'mores. There will also be adult beverages at a location near the Welcome Center.
ACCESSIBILITY The outdoor paths are not fully accessible to those with strollers and wheelchairs, and the back terrace of The Breakers may not be accessible to those with mobility issues. If you are not able to use the stairs to access the back terrace, where refreshments are available, you can enjoy all of the same food and beverage items at the Welcome Center.

- Timed admission only.
- Advance ticket purchase suggested. Sparkling Lights tickets will be for a specific date and time, with admission every 30 minutes. Sparkling Lights is a Special Event.
- Tickets are valid only for the specified date and time you choose. There are no refunds or exchanges on tickets.
- Sparkling Lights tickets include interior tour of The Breakers as well as outdoor light display.
- Visitors will tour the interior of the house and see the outdoor light display during the same visit. Tickets are scanned and canceled upon entry, so there is no re-entry on the same ticket.
- House and grounds close at 7 p.m.
- No Sparkling Lights at The Breakers on November 24, December 17, December 24 and December 25.

A great Newport tradition continues with Holidays at the Newport Mansions! There’s nothing like seeing these spectacular Gilded Age houses in all their festive finery, glittering with gold and sparkling with silver. Throughout each house, ornately decorated Christmas trees, garlands, wreaths and fresh floral arrangements are designed to complement the décor or theme of each room. As always, the 15-foot-tall poinsettia tree in the Great Hall of The Breakers – made up of 150 poinsettia plants – will provide a perfect holiday photo opportunity. New this year, the Music Room of The Breakers will host a vignette of mannequins elegantly dressed in Gilded Age fashions.

Pierre, 120 fourth graders will create ornaments along the theme of ‘Tis
the SEA-son. Each of the six fourth-grade classrooms
will decorate a tree around a sea theme (shells, sharks, merpeople,
etc.) Their ornaments will be displayed on lighted trees in the kitchen
of The Breakers. Please stop by and
admire their creativity!

Holiday Brunch at The Chinese Tea House
Located on the back lawn of Marble House and perched above the historic Cliff Walk, The Chinese Tea House provides an unmatched setting for a three-course holiday brunch curated by Stoneacre Brasserie. Featuring seasonal ingredients and artisan purveyors, this makes the perfect pairing to one of Newport’s most famous ‘summer cottages’; an experience not to be missed. The menu includes a tea tower, an entree selection, and assorted desserts. Complimentary tea service included. Specialty cocktails and wines additional.

The regular self-serve menu at The Chinese Tea House Café IS NOT available on Holiday Brunch dates. Visitors are welcome to visit Café at The Breakers, open daily 10 am – 4 pm.
ACCESSIBILITY The Chinese Tea House is an historic building that is not fully accessible. There are ten steps to enter the building and the restrooms are located down one flight of stairs. Walking distance from Marble House parking lot to The Chinese Tea House is approx. 1/10 of a mile. Parking not available at The Chinese Tea House.
The mansions are open rain or shine, and the outdoor Sparkling Lights at The Breakers will be
canceled only in cases of extreme inclement weather. Any closure notices
will be posted to the Preservation Society’s homepage and on social media.

encouraged to download the audio tour prior to arrival and bring their
own earbuds. For those who prefer not to listen to the audio, one-use
printed scripts are available. Tours are one-way direction only, and
social distancing and face coverings are required.
